Supported Independent Living (SIL) is one of the support categories within the NDIS. It is aimed at individuals with disabilities who require assistance with daily living tasks but wish to live in a more independent setting, such as their own home or in a shared accommodation environment.
Typically, at Ample Life, we offer shared living arrangements in our beautifully appointed homes. Depending on the care needs of the participant, our homes can be entirely dedicated to single participant or shared by up to 3 participants.
-
Short Term Accommodation serves as a transitional phase towards achieving more sustained independent living. This option is particularly useful for participants awaiting SIL funding or seeking to explore alternative experiences. Under the NDIS guidelines, typically, up to 28 days of funding for Short Term Accommodation can be approved granted annually, contingent on the current living arrangement.
-
Medium Term Accommodation is a form of temporary financial support within an NDIS plan, designated to cover housing expenses during periods of change or transition. MTA funding is intended to cover accommodation costs when a participant is in the process of moving to a new home or when modifications are being made to their existing home. The NDIS may approve funding for up to 90 days of MTA. This duration allows participants to have a stable place to stay while they finalize their living arrangements.
